Name: Westley Joseph Coxx.
Nicknames: He prefers to go by West but will also answer to Westley. He is very lenient in what his students call him and will accept Dr. Coxx, Dr. Westley, or Dr. West. The only thing he will not accept is being addressed as Mister. He has the large amounts of college debt to prove he’s a doctor and demands people honor that.
Age/Birthday: He is 30-years-old and his birthday is December 18th.
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Bisexual – he thinks it would be a terrible shame for only one gender to have a chance with him. He has only had a fling or two with guys, but he is open to the idea.
Health Issues: N/A
School and Class: He is a professor at Metric College
Subject/Age Group: Westley teaches psychology courses at a variety of different levels. He teaches an Intro to Psych course which many students take to fulfil a Humanities credit but also offers more advanced courses to those students interested. Even though the school specializes in arts, he believes psychology is an art or its own. His true interest is in counseling, so he offers classes in abnormal psychology, intro to counseling, and counseling practicum. Sometimes if the board allows he teaches a random class of his own creation with a certain emphasis (one year it was a course called Psychology of the Weird).
Job: Psychology Professor and Counselor at Metric College. Since he has his doctorate in counseling he has been asked by the department to offer guidance to students who may be having some issues when it comes to college life. He offers the best support he can while trying not to let it interfere with his personal life.
Reputation: Westley has made quite the reputation for himself at the college. Being such a young and rather attractive professor, he has quite the fan-base behind him. He is very aware most students only take his class because they hear through the grapevine he is attractive and a very relaxed guy. Personally he does not believe in tests, so instead he many assignments and group partner work which he thinks are more valuable in the study of psychology.
He kids around with his students and sometimes could be considered a little bit inappropriate at times. There are rumors around school he’s hooked up with students before, but he neither confirms nor denies those rumors. Westley is extremely passionate about his field of study and expects his class to at least show respect for the material (he tries to make it as fun as he can). Overall his reputation is remarkable and he is a favorite professor among many students.
Friend(s):
Johnathan Hall: The two met at the college and hit it off. He is usually the guy who keeps West in line and does his best to hold the man back when he’s about to do something rash. Westley loves to tease his friend and will occasionally randomly show up at the Hall household and demand dinner.
Natalie Hall: Being friends with John, he also is around his best friend's wife quite a bit. He find her attractive but of course would never hit on his friend's wife.
Susan Summers: West knows Susan from Metric and through association with Natalie. They go out on 'adult nights' every so often with the whole gang, and it's always nice to see Summer out and about.
Miles Lambert: His psychology buddy. He sees Miles as a kind of stick in the mud but loves hanging out with him nonetheless.
Marty Rivers: West's number one party pal. Marty is much more lively than Miles which makes for more interesting nights out. They are both bachelors, so sometimes they go a little too hard when their committed friends are not around.
Emmett Lafeyette: The two met by chance and immediately had sexual chemistry. West thinks he's super attractive and would not mind getting to know him.
Enemies/Rivals: The foster care system. Ever since he was young he has hated the system for taking advantage of him and so many other children. One family in particular he holds a grudge toward are the Norton’s. They made his life a living hell and their daughter Felicity was especially terrible to him.
As much as he would hate to admit it, West makes enemies pretty easy. He is quick to hold a grudge and will go off if something says the slightest thing bad about him. Unfortunately for him his big mouth has gotten him into quite a few bar fights.
Relationship Status: Single – Westley is quite the player. He has had his fair share of one night stands and any relationship he has never really lasts long. He’s a bachelor and likes living that way which means he is extremely flirtatious when it comes to dealing with attractive people. It might seem petty, but he sometimes relies on his looks to get what he desires. Though he would never admit it publically, he has slept with a few of his students and has no regrets about it.
Height/Body Type: 5’10” he has a very average build without being overly muscley or stick skinny. He has some definition and looks good without a shirt on, so that is really all he worries about. Working out really is not his thing but he will take a jog around campus every Wednesday night to at least keep himself semi-active.
Hair color: Dirty blonde, always kept short because he is too lazy to take time and style it in the mornings. Westley never has a clean-shaven face or a beard, just a constant stubble on his face.
Eye color: Bright blue, like, almost un-Godly blue. He always gets compliments on his eyes and is very expressive with them.
Clothing style: Westley is extremely lazy when it comes to the clothes he wears. He never liked dressing up and, even though he is a professor, he still refuses to. The way he sees it he has a doctorate and works hard at what he does so professional appearance should not matter. Instead he opts to wear snug fitting jeans, henleys, plain white t-shirts, and occasionally a button-up. Sometimes he will throw a jacket over his shirt because jackets make everything more formal, right?
Ethnicity: American, probably some Irish and Norwegian in there somewhere but his parents weren’t around long enough to fill him in on his family history.
Playby: Shawn Ashmore
Likes: Parties, drinking, conducting research, psychology, flirting, lounging around at home in his boxers, playing cards, teaching, helping those in need, watching sports, sex, hosting barbeques, living on his own. the beach, feeling wanted, 80s music, playing air guitar
Dislikes: Commitment, when girls cry, children (not so much a dislike as a fear of breaking them), shopping, being rejected, his previous foster families, dressing up, grading papers, attending staff meetings, getting up early, cats (he’s allergic), having to work when it’s beautiful outside, dull parties, hangovers, doing laundry, cooking
+ Social, suave, witty, confident, reliable, scholarly, observant, humorous, brave, daring, extremely charming
+/- Relaxed, competitive, outspoken, compulsive
- Womanizer, aggressive, boisterous, crude, disruptive, egocentric, lazy, ignorant, holds grudges, private (with certain things in his past)
Hobbies: One of his favorite things to do is go out to the bar. He is certainly in his element whenever he is around alcohol and music. Like any man, West also enjoys keeping up on sports and enjoys playing as well though he isn’t the best. Basketball is his favorite sport to play, and he would never pass up a friendly game. Bowling is also something he has also gotten pretty go at over the years. Lastly, he enjoys a lazy Sunday fishing and drinking with the dudes.
Family:
Father – Jordan and April Jackson – Deceased – From what Westley can remember of his parents they were very social people. He could not remember a time where there weren’t people over at their house for a get-together. Other than that he really does not recall much since he lost them when he was so young. Only one picture of his parents has survived his constant switching of foster homes, and he keeps it hung up in his apartment.
Ex-Foster Parents – Pearl and Jim Norton – Westley has had many foster parents but the Norton’s were the most notable because he still absolutely hates him. They only used him and their other foster children to earn money for the government and often neglected them. For some reason they disliked him the most out of all the others and made his life a living hell. He kept telling his social worker about how terrible they were, but she never listened. When he was eighteen he went back to visit the family and beat the shit out of Jim and he still keeps tabs on the family to make sure they don’t abuse any other children in their care.
Ex-Foster Sibling – Felicity Norton – Felicity was Pearl and Jim’s daughter and four years older than Westley. She would always make up lies to tell her parents about him just to get him in trouble. Although he never raised a hand to her, he would have liked to.
Adoptive Mom – Vivian Coxx – Vivian is probably the sweetest woman Westley has ever met. She opened her home to many foster kids yet had chosen to adopt him. He is forever in her debt.
Adoptive Dad – Vincent Coxx – Even though Vivian is kind, it was Vincent who Westley connected with first. He was the one who first got West to open up to the family. Vincent has always been firm with him, but he appreciates it because otherwise he does not know how he would have turned out.
Adoptive Sister – Victoria Coxx – West is extremely close to his adoptive sister and is fiercely protective of her. When he first arrived as a foster child to her parents, he shamelessly flirted with her but she would not put up with his advances. She was snobby and privileged and somehow ended up wriggling a way into his heart. He does his best to call her once a week to check in on how she is doing and visits her once a month if his schedule allows.
Backstory: Westley’s childhood started off simply enough: middle class family, two bedroom house with a big front lawn, a dog, and plenty of friendly neighbors. There were always people over at the house, which is something West remembered about life with his birth parents. Jordan and April Jackson were extremely social people and often hosted all the neighborhood parties in their average-sized home. Westley would chase after the neighbor kids while his dog chased after him. Life was good, life was happy. Even though his parents couldn’t provide him with everything he wanted, they made due.
That was, until when Westley was five-years-old their house caught fire in the middle of the night. West was the first to wake up and ran to his parent’s room. Before they could make it out, the roof caved and blocked any exits. He could hear his mother crying and his father cursing as they tried to find a way out. It took half an hour for the fireman to arrive after a neighbor called the cops. Westley’s parents had asphyxiated by then but they found little West clinging to life shielded from the flames by the bodies of his mother and father.
With no known family to take him in, Westley Jackson was placed into the foster care system. He bounced around from home to home and was never with one family long enough to actually consider them more than strangers. The other foster kids were mean and rough, always pushing him around, so West soon learned how to fight back. It was either kill or be killed in foster care, and he was not going to let anyone boss him around. When he was twelve-years-old he was sent to the Norton’s residence, a place he would soon come to loathe.
Westley had always been a good looking boy, and the Norton’s fifteen-year-old skank of a daughter Felicity quickly took notice. She approached him multiple times but he rejected her. Taken aback by his rejection, she went to her father and told him West had tried to take advantage of her. Of course the obese chain-smoking man took his daughter’s word and beat Westley for his ‘actions’ and forced him to sleep outside for the week. The Norton’s had their ways of punishment, none of which were legal or that the foster system would approve of. When his social worker came they put on their best faces and acted like the perfect family and when West tried to convince her how evil the Norton’s were, she wouldn’t listen.
He was with the family two years before his social worker came for a surprise visit and saw old man Norton dealing out West’s punishment in the backyard. Finally he was out of their house. Weary to move into yet another family, he went to the Coxx household with no intention of being nice. He gave Vincent and Vivian Coxx both the cold shoulder and hit on their daughter Victoria mercilessly. It was his goal to hurt them before they had the chance to hurt him.
After six months in their care, Westley was rather shocked they never once raised their voices at him or took out their belts. He eased up a bit but was still defensive. One day when he sat outside on the porch Vincent came out and asked West to play some basketball with him. Of course the boy denied but when his foster dad offered to give him twenty bucks if he could make seven out of ten three-pointers West took the bet. He ended up winning the money and later playing a one-on-one game with Mr. Coxx. Vincent sat down with the boy and told him how much he reminded him of his son Victor who had passed away when he was Westley’s age. It was that day Westley realized this family was different from the others.
On his sixteenth birthday Vivian and Vincent surprised him by formally asking if he would like them to adopt him. He couldn’t pass up an opportunity like this, not when they were the nicest family he could ever imagine in the foster care system. West agreed and they went in to make if official. He was no longer a Jackson but Westley Joseph Coxx.
His new family supported him better than he could have asked. When he finished high school, they offered to help him pay for college, so he applied. Westley had a passion for psychology. After the shit he went through in foster care he had a desire to help people through their issues and find out how some people developed their issues. Although he was diligent in his studies, he also slept around and partied on his free time. College was a great time for him to finally let loose and enjoy life. Right after college he went onto grad school to earn his doctorate in Psychology. He worked hard and helped as a TA under one of the psychology professors at Metric High while also working on his dissertation for his Ph. D. It was here he met Johnathan Hall, a man who would soon become his best friend.
At age 26, after powering through grad school he finally graduated and earned his Ph. D in psychology with an emphasis in counseling. Coincidentally, the professor he studied under as a TA chose to retire and Westley applied for his job, receiving it on the spot. Since then he has been working hard as a professor of psychology at Metric College while living the bachelor life in his apartment off-campus.
