Clay Jacob Carpet
Age and Birthday:
20. August 18th 1995.
Occupation:
Resident Janitor at Metric
Appearance:
Pasty with stocky shoulders, shorter than average but at a reasonable weight for his height.
His greenish-blue eyes often appear sunken in, and his expression unreadable or tired-looking.
Light brown hair is cut short and goes untouched, giving it a scruffy appearance.
Looks harmless but also with a looming quality about him that most would generally want to avoid.
Personality:
Without medication Clay is the opposite of social. He will remain quiet to some degree in public, and when outside of his comfort zone for an extended amount of time he's known to begin talking to himself, berating his world, those around him and his own self. He will also get very fidgety and begin heavy, labored breathing. Completely not in tune with his emotions or thoughts he will overreact to the slightest of stressful situations - quick to get frustrated, yell, hit things as well as others and himself. He will grow attached to things that are constantly there, and greatly enjoys predictability.
His medications are his saving grace. They make him feel at least partially whole and his unnerving impulses seem to melt away. He can hold his end of a conversation, though he isn't what anyone could call eloquent. His responses are often short and simple, but they aren't without thought. Though he does prefer to keep quiet and to himself, when in the right frame of mind Clay can actually be pleasant company.

Backstory:
As a young child of 6, Clay's mother and father were involved in a fatal car accident. Both of them died after a few days to a week in the hospital. This left his rebellious brother who had just come of age to be roped in to caring for him - and thus everything began to plummet downhill. He was severely neglected emotionally and physically, locked up by his brother who withdrew him from school and never re-enrolled him again. He would also lock him up in his small bedroom every time he left the house - messing with him psychologically and with physical violence when home. Clay was molded through the decade of the hateful scorn of his brother, just for existing. It ripped a black hole inside of him, where all of his most meaningful childhood memories were sucked in to and destroyed by the intense heat of his rage. He kept it bottled up, taking and tolerating the actions and words of his brother - keeping himself occupied with methodical exercise and his own illustrations. Until one day, a week before his birthday - he simply snapped.
His brother had been out all that night and came home sloppy drunk as he often did. That night when he unlocked Clay's bedroom he'd find everything covered in saran wrap. When expecting to beat on his brother a little bit before bed time, he was faced with a more powerful foe than he'd even imagined. He took his time, torturing his own flesh and blood and finding a profound enjoyment in causing him pain - in seeing and hearing the effects of every little incision, every single hit. Clay kept his brother, his very first victim, alive for three days before the blood loss stole him away. He hadn't slept. He was surging with adrenaline and a feeling of ultimate power and absolute freedom. Well, almost absolute. Before he left town he burned his childhood home down, intending on leaving all of the horrors behind him. It wouldn't be that easy.
On the crowded train ride to the furthest city he could get to on a last minute train ride - his own lethargic brain began talking to him, his brother's voice and all he would say repeating. He'd become so reliant on his brother that now that he'd gone through with what he'd planned to for ages, he turned on himself. Halfway in to the getaway, Clay began to answer the taunts and insults - allowing them to convince him to punish himself. The train made an unscheduled stop in Metric. The purpose solely to get Clay off the train and in to hospital care. Reaching the hospital, Clay turned on the EMTs and had to be sedated and placed in isolation for the first week in. The observation and treatment period went by quick, what with the help of heavy medication and the unwanted (at first) friendship with Lucian Livingston - a fellow patient there. Their friendship strengthened over the course of the year. By the time of their release, Clay grew to completely trust him - enough to follow all of his advice to the word, applying to work at the college Lucian enrolled to.
He was accepted as the school's evening janitor, a position ideal for both his and Lucian's needs.
Though he is required to keep on top of his medications, Clay doesn't mind and definitely prefers the way he feels - like he is actually in control of himself. The work is therapeutic for him, no matter how strenuous or disgusting the assigned tasks happen to be.
Family members (All deceased):
Gordon T. Carpet III - Older brother and former guardian
Muriel L. Carpet - Mother
Gordon D. Carpet jr. - Father
Important relationships:
Lucian Livingston - Friend and partner in villainy. Lucian approached Clay very early on during his stay at the psych ward - in fact, right after his solitary confinement for assault. Lucian made it clear that they'd be of great use to one another. Clay was certainly not accustomed to any form of kindness, so he tried at first to ignore the guy and his intentions but persistence and flattery were his greatest weaknesses. It wasn't long before he'd grown an affinity to the older boy, intrigued by his plans - itching to feel the way he'd felt as he had while butchering his brother. The help of his friend ensuring him it wouldn't be a hard feat, with his help.
Toni Locklear - While Lucian encourages Clay's violent impulses, just the thought of Toni deters them. She brings so much comfort to Clay's thoughts that he felt obligated to keep his friendship with her a secret from his best friend. As much as Clay is wary of deceiving Lucian, he knows full well how his friend would take the prospect of Toni and him getting closer. He always sees her secretively, popping up here and there so there is no real pattern to their meetings. Clay's only hope is that he can keep this up indefinitely, but only time will tell.
