Are the Oranges Sweet?

Q: What is the Twitter Feed? A: The twitter feed is basically Metric’s gossip blog. It’s run by an anonymous user who goes by Campus Sweetheart. No one knows who this person is, but whoever they are, they must be attending Metric at either the High School or College Level. The things said on the Twitter feed vary in terms of authenticity, but everything that is said on the Twitter feed exists to cause drama. Characters may reference the Twitter feed either in the IC cbox or in in-character posts.

Gossip Twitter is run by Kenzie and any gossip requests may be PMed to her. She will add them to the Twitter feed when applicable.

Q: What is the IC Cbox?: A: The IC cbox is basically like the regular cbox, except all posts must be in character on it.

Q: What is the plotbox?: A: The plotbox is like the chatting cbox except reserved for plotting. This way people can plot things among one another while also leaving the chatbox open for regular conversation. Please take plots/gushing about RPs to plotbox if other people pop on the cbox, this way both conversations can carry on and no one will be dwarfed.

Q: What is the Ghost rumor for?: A: The ghost rumor started on the original forum, inspired for Halloween and horror themed roleplays. You may use the legend of the Powell family to your hearts content for spooky type roleplays, though keep in mind writer Pierce has created a character for one of the Powell children .

Never before did she ever think she would actually be meeting someone from online in real life. But it was happening. What were the odds the person she called her Significant Other also lived in Salem? The odds seemed completely impossible. She honestly could not remember which of them had suggested meeting but that hardly mattered.

Her stomach fluttered and Maggie took in a deep breath to calm herself. It was natural for her to be nervous though she had much more reason for her anxiousness. Firstly, they were meeting face to face--something she normally was not very comfortable with. Secondly, she had no idea who or what to expect. What if they were a complete dog? Or worse--what if they were absolutely gorgeous?

Tucking her hair behind her ear, she took a spot at the only available spot which was at the counter. She would have preferred one of the booths or tables but today seemed to be a rush. One of her coworkers leaned on the counter, looking at her and asking if she was going to order anything. Maggie shook her head for a moment but then quietly asked for a glass of water.

Every time the door to the diner opened she glanced that direction subtly, wondering if that person would be the one to say the passphrase to her.

So today was the day; the day that Hunter, honestly, hadn't been expecting to happen, but a day that he hoped he would cherish for the rest of his life. He never expected to be in a significant relationship with someone else, especially not someone over the internet. Someone who he had never seen, or heard the voice of. For all he knew, this person could be a guy--and old guy, trying to pick up other middle aged men for some sick fantasy of his. Or worse, or could be a teenager looking for a real relationship. But no, that couldn't be the case. This person was too proper to be a teenager, too mature.

Maybe they should have exchanged ages with one another. Maybe they should have made sure that they were really what each other wanted. But their conversations never rounded to those topics. It was so comfortable talking to this person over the internet that he never even though to ask. Even if this person was ugly, he loved their personality, and he would never forget the conversations they had with one another. There was something in that person that made him feel... Normal. Like he wasn't stupid for talking to someone over the internet. Like he wasn't stupid for being the happy-go-lucky guy that he was.

That didn't make him any less nervous. In fact, because they were so comfortable with each other over the internet made him that much more nervous. What if he wasn't what this person was expecting? Or what if he did something stupid?

As best as he could, Hunter tried to sike himself up as he parked his car in the parking lot of the diner--a place he had only gone to visit once, but wished he had come to more, knowing that his internet SO worked here now. Before getting out the car he checked himself out in the mirror; did his facial look clean enough, was his hair actually going to cooperate and stay down? He fiddled with his teal blue button down shirt and debated on whether or not it would be too formal to wear the black sports jacket he had brought just in case, but decided that it may look better with it on. His black slacks were a nice compliment to his brown shoes and the rest of his outfit.

Okay, you can do this.

When he stepped into the little diner, his eyes instantly sought out any people sitting by themselves; mostly families and couples were sitting at the booths under the windows and people littered the tables more in the middle of the establishment. Talk about being a packed house. Was the food here good, he wondered. He pushed the thought aside quickly, though and his eyes locked on to a woman sitting at one of the tables by herself. She was pretty, with brunette hair, wearing a jean jacket over a white shirt. Could this be...

The anxiety started to rise, but he knew he couldn't back down now.

With his palms sweating, he clasped them together and walked over to the table. The woman looked up, confused, as Hunter approached and stopped at the table, a stupid grin beginning to come over his lips. "Are the oranges sweet?" He whispered to her.

"What?" He woman gave him an incredulous look "Excuse me?"

"The.. Uh. The oranges?"

The woman started to glare, and then quickly shooed him away. "I don't know what you're talking about. Get away from me, you freak! I'm waiting for a couple of business associates, and you are not one of them." She turned back to her phone.

Okay... So that wasn't good. Hunter backed off after apologizing profusely. That... Hadn't gone so well.

She found herself biting on her nail in nervousness. Each opening of the door only brought more disappointment. Each time she felt a surge in her chest of hope, the fluttering in her stomach strong, it was quickly faded at the realization it was not who she was waiting for. The only other person she had ever felt that level of comfort with was Ok.

Abandoning her nail, she chose to twist her hair around her finger. She couldn't bear to lose the closeness she felt to her internet SO. Even if perhaps it didn't work out--which was ridiculous to think, she was certain it could work out-- she wanted to still be able to talk to them. Talk to them on that deep yet light-hearted level they were able to.

She heard the door open as she took a sip from her water. She nearly choked on the liquid when she head a soft mention of oranges from nearby. She tried to find a way to look over her shoulder that did not seem strange or creepy in any way. But she failed. All she could see was the back of a man's head, black slacks and a black sports coat. Was this him? She couldn't even tell how old he was or what he really looked like but.. He was dressed nice.

She turned forward on the stool, taking in a deep breath. You can do this, Maggie. She told herself. If it is really your significant other you won't be talking to a stranger.. Really.

After summoning what courage she had--what tiny inkling of it she possessed-- she turned slightly to look at the man, still not able to see his features. Her voice was quieter than she would have liked. Hopefully he heard her. "Of course, they are valencias."
