Kyra's Outfit
Intro for mac
After two and a half weeks of working non-stop at the diner, putting in overtime, covering peoples' *****, watching her nieces and barely having any time for herself except to sleep Kyra was going to make every second of her one day off in forever count. Oh sure, she could have stayed home, ordered in tacos, binge watched Gilmore Girls, ordered pizza, watched a chick flick, make popcorn, watch two more rom coms and fall asleep at three in the morning only to wake up to the sound of her annoying alarm clock and rush to catch the bus for work the next day. But when Kyra wanted to avoid dealing with people there was only one logical thing to do.... Shop!
After breakfast she made her way to the mall and walked around as many stores as she could. She covered New York & Company, Aeropastel, Macy's, JC Penny, not to mention a small toy store that just opened up, and the Dollar Store. Then she made her way to the food court for lunch, where she of course got some tacos and coffee - her third cup by then, naturally. Then she hit the stores again, including Target, Clare's and Forever 21. By the time Kyra hopped on the bus she had four large bags in her hands completely with multiple smaller bags inside. More than likely she spent a lot more than she should have. On a part time salary, even putting in more than 40 hours somehow and still not being considered full time, it was probably not the smartest idea. But Kyra got so many cute things and even got to pick up something for her nieces, she just couldn't resist! Over $200 later....
Shopping always made Kyra feel better. Even if what she bought was completely useless or it just created less space for herself, it was worth it. Especially after the night she had, not being able to close on time because the last customers were just enjoying their meals so much and her only other remaining coworker had to leave on time because of school in the morning - stupid school - Kyra completely deserved it. Retail therapy was clearly always the answer. If only she had a way to spend the rest of her day. Get ready for a date or go to the bar, maybe catch a movie...oh wait, she needed a date for that didn't she? Dammit. She would've liked that. And she looked so cute today, how could not one person flirt with her? Well, aside from the very obviously gay salesman at Areo; even Kyra wasn't that good to score a date with him. But seriously, other than him, no one? That sucked. Suddenly the realization of having a free night alone made Kyra disappointed. It wasn't even like she had to watch her nieces and feel like she was putting good use to her leftover time. She and her half-sister agreed not to communicate unless absolutely necessary; their relationship was still a work in progress after all. Then again.... Kyra thought about it for a minute before simulating a conversation, turning her head in each direction as if each side represented a sibling.
"Hey sis, need someone to watch the girls tonight?"
"I told you, I'll call you when I need you."
"You can need me now, I'm totally and completely...."
"Bye."
Kyra pursed her lips. On second thought, maybe she shouldn't call to volunteer to babysit. But going back to her apartment alone with all these bags? Somehow that didn't feel like a comforting option. She attempted to figure out another plan, only to be interrupted by the bus suddenly stopping. Kyra nearly fell out of her seat and on top of one her bags. Sitting up on the bus floor - yuck - she looked out the window and saw they were at the uptown plaza. Eyes lighting up, the perfect idea popped into Kyra's mind. She should get her hair and/or nails done! Her shopping day didn't have to be over just yet!
Struggling to get on her feet and off the bus before it left, Kyra grabbed her bags and made a run for the door. Thank god she decided to not wear heels today or else that would have ended horribly! Catching her breath, Kyra straightened her posture and flipped her hair back lightly - though sadly not catching the attention of any passersby - before heading to the salon. She peeked inside the window where she saw Helena. Perfect! Kyra loved going to Helena, plus she always felt so much prettier when she left! Looking at the handle, Kyra attempted to juggle the bags in her hands and pull the door open. It took a few failed attempts before she ultimately decided to use her elbows to grab the handle...somehow that proved to be more effective. Once she got the door open just enough, she turned her body so at least one of the bags created enough of a crack to keep the door open. The bags crackled against each other, though fortunately nothing breakable inside. Growling to herself, Kyra stuck one of her feet into the crack, followed by her head - the latter of which also failed - before she decided to resort tot he big guns. Moving her foot out, she turned her body just enough to squeeze her butt in through the door before slowly forcing the rest of her body into the salon, the bags slamming against each other even louder than a moment ago. Finally making it inside fully, Kyra hopped back on one foot, nearly losing her balance. She managed to keep it, standing on the tiptoes of one foot with her other leg in the air and with most of her body leaning forward. Sighing with relief at how bad that could have really ended, Kyra slowly stood up straight before turning around to Helena. Most people would generally be very confused at the scene, but for Kyra, at least when it came to shopping, this was most likely a normal occurrence.
"So I was just in the neighborhood doing a little shopping toady...."
