Chelsea's outfit
Intro for Kat
"Ok, pajamas, emergency frosting, movies, brush, toothpaste..." Chelsea went back and forth between each room in her apartment, gathering the last of her items together for girls' night at Amber's. Though the apartment was visibly messy, it was nowhere near as terrible as it could be. While Chelsea dashed back and forth, her nephew Shane sat in the living room chair, his feet spread out atop one of the arm rests. He had a book in his hands, though Chelsea didn't pay attention to what it was. Probably not a schoolbook, that was for sure. The student barely glanced up at his sporadic adoptive aunt.
"Your sanity?"
Chelsea stopped and spun around to face the teenager. "Very funny," she commented sarcastically with her hands on her hips. "Everyone should know that I have none.... Ever." Shaking her head, she attempted to gather her thoughts together again. "Ok I know I'm forgetting something else.... Oh! What is it?" She had her phone on the counter top next to her bag, her shoes were by the door, the keys were on the hook...what was she missing??
"Wallet?" Shane inquired, not even looking up.
Chelsea hit her head. Of course her wallet, duh! She went to her bag, the one with little Stitch images on it she typically used over the weekend, and made sure her wallet was inside. Perfect! She placed the bag over her shoulder and then zippered up her overnight bag. She really didn't like leaving Shane on his own...what if he did something bad? Or got into trouble? Or let a girl into the apartment? Those were the kinds of things that went through Chelsea's head when she actually thought it through. And there was no way she was going to start on Shane again. The last time she did, her exact words were, 'If Reese finds out anything happened to you he'll kill me' which was followed by a snarky 'how can he kill you when he's already dead?'. Needless to say that hadn't been a great afternoon for Chelsea. She was not going to open that can of worms again! "Ok so you know the rules right? There's waffles in the freezer, or grilled cheese to make...bed before midnight...no sneaking out, no wild parties, no smoking, no armed robberies...."
"So a drag queen can smoke but not me?" Shane scoffed.
"Ok first of all, it's an actual job. Just like teachers and animators and cab drivers and that guy who played Reptar," Chelsea responded. "Second of all, you're like, sixteen. I did the math...that's kind of part of my job. Ok so just please please pleeeeeeease be good and don't let me come home to anything bad tomorrow?"
Shane looked at the redhead and opened his mouth, but for whatever reason decided to close it. For once he didn't have the heart to tell her Reptar wasn't real. Sighing, he just rolled his eyes and looked back at his book. "Fine. Go do your girl stuff. Go not be depressed for one night."
Deciding to ignore his last comment, Chelsea just clapped her hands. "Thank you thank you thank you! See you tomorrow!" She grabbed her keys off the hook and made her way down the stairs of the apartment complex and out to her car - rather, hers/Reese's car.
Overall today felt like a decent enough day for Chelsea. As much as she wanted to say it was because she was actually productive for once - putting together an algebra test three days in advance, actually folded her clothes instead of stuffing them into the dresser, left the house to get the all-important chocolate chips for her pancakes - Amber probably had a lot more to do with it. She and Calvin had just broken up the other day; and while Chelsea knew her best friend would get through it and, sadly, ultimately get back together with him in no time, the immediate day or two following was never a highlight. Chelsea thrived off making others happy as a distraction for herself and while she was grateful that Amber was the one person she could act however she felt around, she couldn't let her BFF stay sad for long! Between her foster sons and the night they had planned, everything was going to work out!
Chelsea turned up the sound to the songs of Frozen, one of her must-have CDs in the car along with a few select others. It was actually one of the movies she brought along with her, other than Lilo and Stitch of course. Sure, Amber had Netflix but did Netflix really always have movies like that on? Chelsea crossed over from downtown to uptown, humming along to Do You Wanna Built a Snowman in the process. Once she pulled up to Amber's, Chelsea adjusted the beanie over her pin-straight hair. It was a bit on the breezy side tonight and wind didn't give Chelsea the voluminous hair she actually wanted. Grabbing her bag from the back seat, she walked up to the door and knocked on it, almost mimicking how Anna does in Frozen. "Do you wanna build a snowman?" she asked through the closed door.
Wait a minute.... She forgot! Chelsea wasn't Anna! Well, at least not tonight anyway. Duh. So instead, she improvised. "I've got movies and neon pink nail polish! If you don't want me to walk right in just tell me there's no pie!" She even reached slowly for the knob to emphasize her point. Somehow, no matter how good or how bad the day was - for Chelsea or anyone for that matter - a little bit of Anna always seemed to find its way out. It was just a shame there didn't seem to be any Elsa's around Salem!
