Trainer Name: Candice Montgomery

Trainer Age: Roughly 24

What attracts them to certain Pokemon?: Candice is the Steel Gym leader so all her Pokemon are steel types. She is attracted to power, especially unexpected power in her Pokemon. Candice trains her Pokemon regularly and keeps them strong for her Gym, making her a difficult Gym leader to face based on her strategies.

Trainer Rank/Position: Candice is the Petalburg City Gym leader and is the Fifth Gym trainers must beat on their journey.

How did they achieve this position or rank?: Candice grew up in Petalburg town, and always aspired to be a strong trainer but didn’t want to become the champion. She trained mainly in Rustboro, where she became a formidable trainer and a big help in the construction for the tunnel to Verdanturf. After a huge scuffle with team rocket, the Gym leader at the time had to step down due to his Pokemon being taken. Candice took over for him and proved to be a fierce competitor for challengers. When the Gym leader got his beloved Pokemon back, he didn’t want to risk being targeted again and so he retired to a small house in Verdanturf. Candice has been the Gym leader for a few years now. She works with her girlfriend, Carla, to see how different trainers are when they leave the Pokemon research center in Littleroot and arrive to challenge her in Petalburg.

Current Location: Petalburg City, she lives in a small house by the Gym.

Special facts about their Pokemon: Candice’s strongest Pokemon is her Lairon, her second strongest Mawille. While Lairon is brutal in terms of strength Mawille has very high tolerance and can be quite the tank, all while dishing out strong moves. She caught most of her Pokemon in Dewford town when she was younger on vacation, the others she acquired through trips to Falabor and Lilycove.

Pokemon’s Personalities: Mawille is a very relaxed Pokemon and she hates to lose. In battle, she’s fiercer than she might seem. She is very fond of Carla. Lairon is an aggressive Pokemon who uses his strength to express his feelings, often resulting in rocks strewn across the Gym in rage. He clashes the most with Candice and sometimes he doesn’t want to listen. However, he does respect his trainer, though he is no longer the small little Aron she caught originally. Steelix is quiet, and almost shy. He is strong in battle, but bashful when praised. Skarmory[/i] is usually pretty relaxed, but when he is tested or when one little thing goes wrong, he can be quite the diva about it and very temperamental about it! Candice’s Bronzor is very social and doesn’t like to fight much; Candice typically saves him for her last Pokemon to use. And her Klefki is also aggressive, and seems convinced he is stronger than he actually is.

Brief Trainer backstory: Candice grew up in Petalburg. Her best friends were Erin and Nina, and the three of them set out on Pokemon journeys together. Candice grew tired of the traveling and, after catching Mawille, Aron, and Skarmory, she retired to Petalburg while Nina and Erin went on their way. Candice headed back home when she came face to face with Team Rocket. She defeated the grunts sent after her to steal her Pokemon and headed back to Petalburg. Since then she’s been a target for her Pokmon being snatched, but she doesn’t let that happen. Team Rocket notes her as a significant threat. After that, Candice remained comfortable in her town until there was discourse over the town’s Gym leader losing his Pokemon to team Rocket. Candice filled in for him as the leader and did so good a job that, when he retired, the former leader highly recommended her to take over. She did. Now, Candice is often traveling down to Littleroot town to meet with and exchange information about her challengers with her girlfriend, Professor Carla Davenforth. The two have been in a stable relationship for a few years and it is common knowledge to bring your A game to your battle with Candice, because she records information for Carla to know how you’ve grown on your journey until then.

Important Relationships: Professor Carla Davenforth, girlfriend. She is acquainted with all the other Gym leaders and members of the Elite four. Candice is often one of the first alerted of any malicious intent by Team Rocket and will help efforts to thwart them. Trickster Chase Davenforth, girlfriend’s brother.

Trainer Name: Arthur Summers

Trainer Age: Roughly 22

What attracts them to certain Pokemon?: Ever since he was a kid, Arthur was always drawn to Flying Pokemon. Growing up in Fortree, his first Pokemon was Tropius. He’s not particularly picky about Pokemon’s strength or looks and will train any Pokemon he captures.

Trainer Rank/Position: Gym leader of Fortree Gym. He is the sixth Gym traveling trainers have to defeat to get to the Pokemon league.

How did they achieve this position or rank?: After attending Rustburo’s PokeSchool for a while, Arthur came back and worked in Jason Carmichael’s Gym as one of the trainers in the Gym. From the beginning Arthur wanted the title of the Gym leader, and when Jason decided to retire to Verdanturf town with his lover, Arthur challenged him. He won the battle and gained the title of Fortree’s Gym leader. Arthur has only been the Gym leader for a few months and struggles at both fitting in with the other Gym leaders and maintaining the prestige that Jason built up for the Gym.

Current Location: Fortree City. Arthur lives in a treehouse on the opposite side of town as the Gym with his sister, closer to the PokeSchool she opened up there.

Pokemon (in order as they appear on the card): Altaria, Farfetch'd, Staravia, Tropius, Noctowl, Pidgey

Special facts about their Pokemon: Altaria is his strongest Pokemon, though Tropius is a formidable second best. Tropius was his first Pokemon and is also his oldest. His Pidgey is his weakest Pokemon and Arthur rarely lets him battle and doesn’t count him as part of his party when challengers enter. His Pidgey actually got lost in a migration and that’s how Arthur found him. His other Pokemon were captured throughout travels, but Arthur never actually went on a Pokemon journey.

Pokemon’s Personalities: Altaria is Arthur’s most powerful Pokemon, and she knows it. Caught on a return trip to Falabor town, she originally disliked being owned by a Trainer but grew fond of Arthur via training. Susan will often groom Altaria when the Gym is closed, and she and Arthur will often go flying around Hoenn on days he has off. She disliked Chardonnay Nicholas strongly because of how she taunts Arthur, and she is usually the one who uses gust on her to mess up her hair (often without prompt from Arthur to do so). Farfetch’d was given to Arthur in a trade with his sister. Farfetch’d is pretty laid back and doesn’t like to make noises or be noticed. He is very sneaky and likes to subtly change things around the house to mess with his trainer and his sister. Farfetch’d is a bit of a prankster, but otherwise down to earth. Staravia was picked up down by Petalburg. He is wise and likes to avoid people. He does not like humans and doesn’t even seem to like Arthur half the time. Arthur’s Tropius is his first Pokemon. He is the oldest of the crowd and acts like it. Tropius is very relaxed and when not battling enjoys taking naps outside of the city, near the forest he was caught in. He is social and enjoys the company of people, especially the kids at the PokeSchool. Noctowl avoids people, is a loner, and she’s a sore loser. And lastly, Arthur’s Pidgey is a bit of an idiot. He was originally lost and when Arthur found him, he was weak. Arthur took him in and healed him up and tried to release him but he wouldn’t leave. Eventually, after a week of trying to get the bird to leave, Arthur just captured him with no struggle. Pidgey enjoys to fly around the town and socialize with people. He is easily the most well-known of Arthur’s Pokemon, simply because he is so often wandering the town.

Brief Trainer backstory: Arthur was a child when he and his sister lost their parents in a ferry accident. His older sister moved him from their hometown of Falabor to the cleaner, cheaper town of Fortree. Once there the two moved into a treehouse and Arthur quickly saw the appeal of living up high. When he was a teen he wandered into the woods and befriended a Tropius, who took him up soaring in the sky. After that Arthur fell in love and begged his sister to teach him how to catch the Tropius. She did, and Arthur had his first Pokemon. Susan wanted him to learn more about Pokemon so she sent him to Rustburo to study at the Pokemon school. When Arthur returned, his sister had opened her own Pokeschool in town and he got a job with Jason as his gym. After Jason returned, Arthur challenged and won the Gym. He has only been leader for a few months now and hopes to earn his place as the leader of Fortree’s Gym.

Important Relationships: Schoolteacher Susan Summers, older sister. He’s very close to his sister, who raised him after the premature loss of their parents. She opened up a PokeSchool in Fortree and Arthur often stops in to help her with her teaching and to help out the kids. Chef Chardonnay Nicholas, rival and enemy. They first met when her father brought her to Fortree to visit Jason. At the time Arthur was a trainer in the Gym. Immediately the two clashed and tried to battle each other. However, Chardonnay’s Snorlax was drawn to Arthur and instead of fighting his Altaria, he sat on him, squashing him underneath him. Now, it’s a running gag that every time Chardonnay comes to Fortree she sends her Snorlax to go find and sit on Arthur. In turn, Arthur’s Pidgey is fond of Chardonnay and will often seek her out and perch on her head or shoulder, leading to many people in Fortree to think she is his girlfriend since his Pokemon is so fond of her.

Trainer Name: Noelle Xavier

Trainer Age: Roughly 24

What attracts them to certain Pokemon?: Noelle grew up in the snowy part of Sinnoh region. She’s always loved snow and ice and those are the Pokemon she gravitates towards. She likes cute Pokemon, often ones that remind her of Christmas.

Trainer Rank/Position: She is the first member of the Elite Four.

How did they achieve this position or rank?: Noelle achieved the position of Elite Four member after breaking up with her ex, Jared Symons, who was a member of the Elite Four. Convinced that she could prove something to him if she gained the position she worked hard and eventually overtook the first spot at the Elite Four! She works hard to keep her position and trains daily. She adores the perks of being in the Elite Four, even though she’s the newest member.

Current Location: Evergrand City, she loves the view from the top of the mountain though she misses her home way back in Sinnoh!

Pokemon (in order as they appear on the card): Piloswine, Delibird, Vanilluxe, Beartic, Ninetails (Alola form), Glaceon.

Special facts about their Pokemon: Noelle got Ninetails in a trade. Her Delibird is named Santa after Santa. The easiest way to defeat her is to use fire type Pokemon; Noelle tries to combat this with raising her Pokemon’s defenses.

Pokemon’s Personalities: Piloswine is a grumpy old fart! He was Noelle’s first Pokemon, caught in a cave, and the only reason he came with her was because he was tired. He is not social, but has grown to love and respect Noelle. He doesn’t get on well with any other Pokemon besides Delibird, however. Delibird, AKA Santa, is a very generous Pokemon. He likes to take things and give them to others, taking inspiration from the pictures and stories Noelle has shown him about Christmas and Santa, his namesake. He was Noelle’s first Pokemon in Hoenn. Vanilluxe is a very aggressive type and likes to win! She is a sore loser and will often get volatile if things go wrong. Beartic is always sleeping and it’s rare she’s awake, even for battles. Her biggest weakness is sleeping power – one whiff of that and she’ll take the excuse to nap until she’s fainted! Ninetails is a Pokemon Noelle received from her brother in a trade. He’s native to Alola and misses his homeland clearly. He is fond of Noelle, but skittish and very shy. Noelle’s Glaceon was originally captured as an Eevee back in Sinnoh and trained by the icy rock. She is the smartest of Noelle’s Pokemon and also the one who detests Jared the most. She connects to Noelle very well and Noelle can tell what she is thinking by a mere glance.

Brief Trainer backstory: Noelle was born in Sinnoh. She was a great coordinator, and when she reached Master Rank in Beauty contests, she decided to travel to Hoenn to participate in contests there. When she moved, Noelle found she wasn’t terribly impressed by contests in Hoenn. She was, however, impressed by a group of four people who she met – mostly by a very strong, very powerful trainer who swept her off her feet, Jared of the Elite Four. She dated him for a few years, while also participating in contests, only to find out he was seeing a girl behind her back a few months ago. Furious Noelle tried to defeat him in battle, but was defeated. After that she wanted to prove she was a good trainer, so she set out to train. She defeated the Gyms and grew strong enough to challenge the Elite Four when something happened – the first spot opened up! She auditioned for it and it was hard to snag, but she did. Now, Noelle is the first member of the Elite Four. Though she originally joined it to spite Jared, she loves the perks of her position and wouldn’t give it up for the world!

Important Relationships: Elite Four Jared Symons, ex-boyfriend. He is the reason she originally tried to get in the Elite Four. She and he often clash in the Elite Four team; often she will have her Pokemon bite him or shoot ice beams at him and he will in turn have his Pokemon haunt her. Traveling Trainer Mason Finn, friend. He is an aspiring trainer and Noelle has been friends with him since she moved to Hoenn. He often comes to challenge the Elite Four but for some reason gets distracted enough by her presence that she can beat him fairly easily. She enjoys seeing a familiar face come to challenge her.

Trainer Name: Cliff Arkwright

Trainer Age: Roughly 15

What attracts them to certain Pokemon?: Cliff likes tough looking Pokemon and often gravitates towards ground or nature related Pokemon, so grass and ground types.

Trainer Rank/Position: Traveling Trainer. He has 5 badges and is heading towards his 6th.

How did they achieve this position or rank?: Through traveling and defeating the gyms.

Current Location: Somewhere on route 119 between Mauville and Fortree.

Pokemon (in order as they appear on the card): Mighteyana, Graveler, Serperior, Surskit, Sandslash, Egg.

Special facts about their Pokemon: His Mighteyana, Elvis, is actually much stronger than a Pokemon trainer of his level would have. That’s because Elvis was originally his father’s before he was given the Pokemon. Elvis listens to Cliff out of free will and so he very easily eat the first few Gyms with his overpowered Pokemon. Cliff was given an Egg in Lavaridge town and was tasked with the task of hatching it. He takes this task very seriously.

Pokemon’s Personalities: Elvis the Mighteyana is very close to Cliff. Elvis originally belonged to his father and ever since he was a small Poocheyana, Cliff has been close to him. Elvis is a loyal, stubborn animal and fiercely protective of his trainer. He sees Rhett in Cliff and will not allow any harm to come to him. Graveler is the first Pokemon Cliff caught himself as a Geodude. He’s Cliff’s pride and joy for tackling the flight Gym next. Graveler is very excitable and wants to be involved in everything and anything! Cliff’s Serperior is the Pokemon he got from Professor Carla when he started his journey. Serperior has a huge superiority complex and doesn’t like to listen to Cliff, which often results in Serperior stubbornly changing moves in Pokemon battles. He does not respect Cliff very much and is the most troublesome Pokemon for Cliff – as a result Cliff rarely uses him. Surskit was found near Petalburg. She’s very mean, and doesn’t seem to like anyone aside from Cliff. And lastly, his Sandslash was found in the desert. He’s a very smart Pokemon, but very lazy and only does things if he absolutely has to. He and Cliff have a very close connection.

Brief Trainer backstory: Cliff grew up in the bustling city of Rustboro. He attended the trainer school there and his father worked on the police force. When his father passed Cliff was given his Mighteyana. While he was an inexperienced trainer, Mighteyana (Elvis) always listened to him because they were so close. Cliff started his Pokemon journey by heading to Littleroot. On his journey he met many people and traveled with some of them briefly before going their separate ways. Cliff has always been a wanderer and likes to go at his own pace anyway. On his journey, he’s met Team Rocket numerous times, mainly Daemon and Logan. Cliff has acquired somewhat of a hero complex, deciding that he’s the chosen one to thwart Team Rocket’s malicious intentions. He is trying to become a Champion of the Pokemon League, and also wants to sneak into Team Rocket’s Lilycove hideout to thwart them.

Important Relationships: Rocket Admin Daemon Jeong, Enemy. Daemon is someone who Cliff constantly runs into on his journey. Daemon originally wanted to steal Elvis from Cliff, but now Cliff is constantly thwarting Daemon’s malicious plans. Rocket Admin Logan Valdez, enemy. Usually Daemon’s partner, Cliff thwarts her malicious plans too. Cliff butts heads with her even more-so than he does with Daemon and considers her, in addition to Team Rocket member, a rival.

Special facts about their Pokemon: Savannah’s furret is a shiny Pokemon and she found her by chance. She has very high stats too and would likely do well in contests – Savannah is considering entering one for fun, but the prospect of all those people watching terrifies her. Often, people will joke about her Spinda being drunk. Quilber is her strongest Pokemon, but Furret is her second strongest with Spinda in third. Spinda is actually quite strong.

Pokemon’s Personalities: Quilladin, also known as Quilber, is Savannah’s first Pokemon and the one she is closest to. Quilber has been there for Savannah whenever she was left alone or scared. Quilber is very comforting and a nurturing type. She does not like to leave Savannah’s side for very long, if at all. Shroomish was captured in Petalburg woods and she is very focused. She has her own agenda and often ignores people or Savannah’s requests if they are outside of battles. Savannah captured her Spinda up in the ash-covered Falabor town. Spinda is kind of an idiot and wanders into crazy situations. She doesn’t seem to know what she’s doing or where she is half the time. Savannah’s Furret is the rarest Pokemon she has, being a shiny. She found her sniffing around some berries and fell in love with her pelt color. Furret is very down to earth and obsessed with berries, particularly oran berries. She likes affection and, like a cat, will often want to be stroked and pet. Savannah’s ditto is an enigma. It was found behind the berry house disguised as a Zigzagoon. It does not like attention but enjoys its left side being squished. It likes to pretend to be a puddle, be stepped on, and whine about being hurt even though it does not hurt it. Ditto is quite the drama overlord!

Trainer Name: Shyanne Volle

Trainer Age: Roughly 17

What attracts them to certain Pokemon?: Pretty Pokemon, hands down. Shyanne has no interest in anything ugly!

Trainer Rank/Position: Shyanne is a Pokemon coordinator, and a very well-known and televised one, too. She’s got many Pokemon who are master rank at Beauty contests and her goal is for all her Pokemon to achieve their master ribbons in Beauty!

How did they achieve this position or rank?: Through hard work and training her Pokemon specifically for Beauty. She also is a huge TV personality, and thus has many fans who give her bonus points from the audience cheers when she is on stage. When on stage with her Pokemon, Shyanne is practically a completely different person! She does not like to lose and always goes to her contests at her absolute best!

Current Location: Lilycove City. She is often seen around or in the contest hall.

Special facts about their Pokemon: Her Gardevoir is shiny, and it was pure luck she got one. But she considered it a sign that she was meant for greatness, which was why she took a break from using Piplup for contests and instead used Gardevoir.

Pokemon’s Personalities: All of Shyanne’s Pokemon are pretty diva-like. Her Piplup was her first Pokemon and Shyanne refused to let it evolve in fear it would stop being cute. She has developed a complex for being cute and pretty and cannot stand messiness or looking lackluster. Piplup looks up to Shyanne and always aspires to please her. Gardevoir was Shyanne’s debut contest winner. She was captured just outside of Petalburg and intrigued Shyanne by her color. When Shyanne discovered what that meant – how rare Gardevoir was – she was impressed and decided it was fate for her to be a contest winner! Gardevoir is the most modest of her Pokemon, ironically. Shyanne’s Castform was given to her by a fan who worked at the weather institution. Castform is very mysterious and does not like attention or Shyanne’s other Pokemon. He instead is fascinated with Rylan’s hats and always wants to hide in them. Shyanne is trying to get him to become a contest winter but Castform seems to have other plans. Once Shyanne got her Sylveon as an Eevee she immediately set to getting a Sylveon. Sylveon is very attached to Shyanne and does not like to fight – she is vain, like Shyanne, and thinks battling is a waste of time. Skitty is a hyeperactive little Pokemon – Shyanne caught her because she was cute, but quickly found her to be too much. She is often in her Pokeball for is she isn’t, she’ll run around everywhere. And Bellosum is a Pokemon Shyanne got from her brother. She hated it because when she got her as a Gloom, Shyanne thought she was ugly. But because she wanted to be liked, too, Bellosum eventually got her hands on a sun stone that was in Shyanne’s pocket and evolved. Bellosum is now loved by Shyanne but is incredibly self-conscious – she fears if she does badly in a contest or if she becomes ugly in anyway, Shyanne will not love her anymore.

Brief Trainer backstory: Shyanne set out on a Pokemon journey with a very annoying boy named Cliff who was her ‘rival’. She claimed the water Pokemon and he claimed the grass Pokemon, and she was furious when he kept beating her in battle. Shyanne traveled from Gym to Gym trying to earn badges but found it tedious and boring. She refused to let her Piplup evolve in fear it would become ugly. However in Dewford town, Shyanne heard of a good opportunity – contests. So rather than challenging the leader, she picked herself up and headed to Slateport. Once there she entered the hall and was floored. She met Rylan there and insisted that contests were so much better than battles. She won a beauty contest with her Piplup and her greed grew. She eventually trained her Piplup to get into the next rank, and the next, and the next! She had Rylan convinced now to participate in contests and watched his performances, offering her (admittedly harsh) critique to him whenever he lost or didn’t come in first. She quickly became famous and began to travel Hoenn. She went back and beat the first three Gyms, but only to help toughen up her Pokemon. She now has beaten the Master Beauty rank with Gardevoir, and up to the Hyper rank with Piplup and Sylveon. She is trying to get her fullparty of six to become Master Beauty winners! Every time there’s a TV camera Shyanne is always front and center, doing interviews and closeups. She’s very well-known around the region because of this and her family seems to be wary of her fame, but Shyanne doesn’t care! She wants to be famous for beauty, not battles! Gross!

Important Relationships: Coordinator Rylan Houd, traveling companion and friend. Shyanne considers Rylan almost like a protégé, someone who she is teaching to be good at Pokemon contests. She holds an air of superiority around him of course, but that’s because she’s famous! She is always there to offer him tips and techniques to win. Though he better not enter any Beauty contests – she’ll cheer him on in Coolness, but Beauty is her domain!

What attracts them to certain Pokemon?: Alvin catches what he can, and since he’s pretty much confined to the roads between Slateport and Mauville, that’s what he gets.

How did they achieve this position or rank?:

Current Location: Alvin lives in Mauville, but constantly travels along route 110 between Mauville and Slateport. He can often be seen on the cycling path.

Pokemon (in order as they appear on the card): Minun (Maxwell), Minun (Morgan), Minun (Mynx), Plusle (Ella JR), Gulpin (Glob).

Special facts about their Pokemon: All of Alvin’s Pokemon are very weak, his strongest is Glob and that’s saying something. Despite that, though, Alvin isn’t deterred and loves them all. Even if he constantly gets his butt creamed on cycling road by the bigger, meaner bikers!

Pokemon’s Personalities: Maxwell the Minun was Alvin’s first Pokemon. He does not like anyone but is fond of Alvin though he acts as though he is not. He often is the savior Alvin needs when he gets himself in stupid situations. Morgan the Minun was friends with Maxwell prior to his capture and followed Alvin around until Alvin wizened up enough to capture it. He’s very self-reliant and also very proud of himself. Mynx is a trickster and Alvin actually found him around the trickster house. He likes to make Alvin run around and has a habit of hiding. Ella JR is very self-absorbed and spoiled since Alvin named her after his favorite coordinator and crush. She is the only girl on Alvin’s team and likes to dress up. Glob is a Pokemon who is starved of affection. He likes to tackle Alvin to the ground and is very slobbery. Alvin discovered him on a remote island just near the power plant. Alvin’s pretty sure Glob was trainer-owned, but abandoned on the Island because of how affectionate he is. If that’s the case, that’s sad – but Alvin is more than happy to have such an affectionate teammate!

Brief Trainer backstory: Alvin’s mother is involved in the Devon corporation. She lives in Rustburo and wants Alvin to follow in her footsteps. However he convinced her to live with his dad and siblings in Mauville. He promises to join Devon someday. Alvin fits in perfectly with Mauville life and acquired a bike to travel between the two cities via cycling road. He is very loud and well-known in both towns. He watches contests in Slateport when he can, and fell in love with a coordinator he saw on TV, Ella. She was so confident and skilled and he wanted to see her in person someday! Alvin, however, was always an awful trainer and only had a few weak Pokemon. He constantly lost battles and when he tried a contest he and his Pokemon both fled the stage. Right now he attends contests every time they are available and works delivering papers between the two cities Mauville and Slateport. One day, Ella’s got to come to Slateport, right?

Important Relationships: Coordinator Ella Reeve, crush. Alvin is best described as Ella’s fanboy. He has posters of her in his room and records almost every contest she’s in. He knows all of her Pokemon off the top of his head and their cool, award winning moves. He even named one of his Pokemon after her! Alvin has never met her in person but hopes to totally impress her on the day that he does!

What attracts them to certain Pokemon?: Susan likes weird, science and space themed Pokemon. She also enjoys egg hatching when she can get her hands on eggs.

How did they achieve this position or rank?: When Susan was raising her little borther, she realized how badly he wanted to be a trainer and thought, ‘why should I have to send him all the way to Rustburo to learn?’ So, she opened up a small Pokeschool for the children on the other side of Hoenn to use to learn. It wasn’t much and she didn’t get her brother back immediately, but the school quickly grew as more people thought she was a good teacher. Susan now runs a successful Pokeschool in Fortree, and her brother often comes over to allow young aspiring trainers to see his Pokemon and test battle with him.

Current Location: Fortree city, she lives with her brother in a small treehouse.

Special facts about their Pokemon: Abra enjoys to teleport into precarious and odd places – and can often only be found and beckoned back by Arthur’s Pidgey.

Pokemon’s Personalities: Oaf, her Drowzee was her first Pokemon. Though she did start a Pokemon Journey, she didn’t get a selection of Pokemon at the time. Drowzee is very lazy and does not like to do much of anything – hence why his name is (lazy) Oaf! Eggcited, her Togepi, was given to her by her mother as an egg. After the premature loss of their parents, Susan didn’t hold the egg until she decided to open the school. Thankfully, Eggcited hatched and his name comes from how eggcited Susan was to have a new Pokemon! He is very happy-go-lucky and often likes to be held – he does not like to be alone and will seek out company either from Susan or the students of the school. Wren the Abra was the first Pokemon she caught after their parents died, and thus named after their father. He’s very aloof and relaxed, often disappearing for days at a time only to reappear when tracked by Arthur’s Pidgey. He is a loner, but does enjoy affection from Susan. He does not really like children and will teleport of a child gets too close to him. And because she named a Pokemon for her father, Adelaide the Clefairy was captured in lieu of her mother. Clefairy is very nosy and wants to know everything! She is good with children and often will watch or even try to teach Susan’s classes when Susan is busy. Echo the Chimecho was captured on one of the many trips to their parents graves. Echo is very musical and likes to be around people. She is a loud little thing and is always noticeable when she is around. And lastly, Jezebella the Jynx is Susan’s best friend, almost. Jynx is very sassy and can be awfully rude – she especially doesn’t like Arthur. Susan finds her very amusing and likes to have her teach the kids sometimes – though Jezebella favors the girls moreso than the boys.

Brief Trainer backstory: Susan went on a Pokemon journey as a kid, armed with her Drowzee. She captured a few Pokemon but none of them really grew attached to her. After her journey completed, she lost her parents and had to raise her brother. She moved to the airy town of Fortree to get away from the smog of Falabur. She had received an egg from her mother and her fascination with it led her to try to hatch it. It was very hard and she had little faith that he would actually hatch, given that he’d been in the egg for years. However, Susan was surprised when, halfway through getting her school together, he hatched! Susan took it as a good sign and opened her school to any student so long as they could get to Fortree to attend classes. When her brother returned from Rustburo and became the Gym leader of the town, she couldn’t have been prouder. Now, Susan runs the PokeSchool in town and has her brother come over sometimes to give the students experience with a Gym leader and their Pokemon.

Important Relationships: Gym Leader Arthur Summers, little brother. Susan lives with her brother in a treehouse in Fortree city. The two are very close. His Pidgey is the only one who can ever find Wren the Abra when he teleports away. Chef Chardonnay Nicholas, acquaintance. Susan only knows Chardonnay in passing, from stories Arthur has told her and from the rumors flying around Fortree. She thinks it’s hilarious that her Snorlax constantly crushes Arthur, and her Jynx certainly approves of it too. Numerous times Susan has had to go to Arthur’s Gym and have her Drowzee use psychic on the Snorlax to free Arthur for a challenger.

Special facts about their Pokemon: Espurr is a stolen Pokemon, but she walked away from her owner and chose Daemon over the girl who used to own her.

Pokemon’s Personalities: Ribombee is a very aggressive, easy to anger Pokemon. She was Daemon’s first Pokemon, and is the one he uses most often in battles. Espurr was taken from a trainer who she didn’t like. Espurr was the beginning of Daemons’ descent into Team Rocket. She is very entitled and always seems bored. She does not like other psychic Pokemon most strongly of all and dislikes any other creature. She tolerates Daemon and sometimes will snuggle up to him, but these are few and far between. And finally, Spiritomb snuck up on Daemon when he was a young grunt and exploring the remains of the Sea Mauville. Spiritomb likes to prank people and sneak up on people. He is quiet, and Daemon’s most powerful Pokemon. Often Daemon will only bring out Spiritomb if all his other Pokemon have been bested. Spiritomb has no mercy and enjoys seeing other Pokemon and trainers miserable. He brings out the worst in Daemon and the rest of his party is scared of Spiritomb.

Brief Trainer backstory: Daemon didn’t originally want to be in Team Rocket. When he was a kid he helped people. But one time when he was in Mossdeep, Team Rocket was sabotaging something and he tried to help the opposition. However during the commotion, Espurr left her trainer and jumped into one of Daemon’s Pokeballs. Furious, the other trainers blamed him for being an ally of Team Rocket’s. Daemon gave up proving his innocence quickly and found it was more satisfying to work with Team Rocket. He was the reason they didn’t fail the mission, and when the Team took him back to Headquarters, he was introduced to Giovanni. Daemon said he’d be more than willing to join them and he was admitted. He moved up in the ranks quickly, being both a skilled trainer and a dark soul. He became an Admin after a few years and enjoys the position. Most of his missions are successes, the only failure record being with Cliff Arkwright. He and his partner, Logan, are usually a power team together but there’s something about that doof that always gets in their way. Daemon still wants to take that Mighteyana from him – that Pokemon is very valuable and would make Giovanni very happy to receive.

Important Relationships: Rocket Admin Logan Valdez, partner. Daemon and Logan often wind up working together to commit Team Rocket’s dastardly deeds. They work well together and bring out the worst in each other. Trainer Cliff Arkwright, rival and enemy. Cliff has been thwarting Daemon and Logan ever since the two tried and failed to steal his Mighteyana.
