Chase Philander Davenfourth
Nicknames
How do you shorten a name like Chase? Just call him 'dude' or 'bro', he'll probably answer.
Age/Birthday
He just turned 20 on January 6
Zodiac
Capricorn
Reputation
Chase has always been pretty well off financially and can be pretty spoiled as a result, but being the 'rich kid' never really caught on. Most times he's pretty much just a class clown or goof, pulling pranks and getting in trouble. He swears up and down that he's not a nerd, but some people might say otherwise.
Job
What job? Chase doesn't do work.
Class
Junior at Metric College
Major
Though Chase spent the first two years as an undeclared major, mostly thanks to the amount of money his father was putting into the school, he recently declared himself an art major.
Grades
Chase never got the best grades. He doesn't exactly take his studies seriously.
Friends
Clint Clark is Chase's best friend. They call each other 'bro' and do a lot together from pulling pranks and getting in trouble to stalking Clint's monster crush Wyatt Prescott. They don't always see eye to eye; Clint can get kind of sentimental, aka sappy, and can be a little too organized for Chase's taste. And really, sometimes Chase thinks his friend can do better than Wyatt. But who's he kidding? They would definitely make a great match together! And Chase would do anything for his bro.
Through his sort-of-girlfriend Max Carter Chase knows Amy O'Neal. Chase likes to think he gets on pretty well with her and considers her a bro. Amy can be pretty tough on Chase sometimes, especially considering he's seeing her best friend. Unfortunately for Chase, sometimes he just doesn't know when to shut his big mouth!
Chase is also friendly with Ace Harrison and Todd Bennett. They are roommates at Metric with Chase and Clint and are also Max and Amy's best guy friends. Chase likes to think he gets on with them pretty well, or else why would they be sharing a suite together.
Enemies
Jared Symons is on a fairly short list of people he can't stand. Chase can NOT deal with that guy! Jared is Max's dance partner and Chase gets that, but they just seem too close for his comfort. The guy's personality sucks big time. And one of the last things Chase wants is for Jared to swoop in take his girl - well, sort of girl...almost girl...girl he really likes.
Chase can't say he's a huge fan of Chad Richardson either. Fortunately there's not much of a problem this year as there was the year before, but the guy was kind of getting in the way of his bro's crush. That meant Clint was being messed with, and Chase does't let that go unnoticed.

Relationship Status
Single...ish? Maybe? Well, he's sort of been seeing Max Carter for almost a year but they're not official. Actually Chase doesn't really know what they are. But he does know that he likes her.
Clubs/Organizations
He's a not-so-secret member of the Shipping Club. Chase has tried to hide that he's into pairings but between him and Clint spying on Wyatt and his conversations with Amy, it's pretty obvious Chase is into that stuff. Though he does think all the spying he does should boot him up to at least vice president.
Body
Chase is fairly tall at five foot ten and, last he checked, is pretty average weight. His skin tone is best described as a cocoa shade. He considers himself lightly toned; he may not be the toughest nail in the shed but he won't turn down a basketball game or something either.
Eye Color
Brown
Hair
Chase's hair is his defining feature. It's the first thing anyone sees in a crowd. Thick, dark brown - though black in some light - springing, unruly curls completely cover his head. He won't keep it too long but he doesn't like it short either. Some curls do hang in front of his face, especially when it's windy. His hair is long enough to tie back, but Chase doesn't roll like that.
Style
Chase dresses casually. He likes whatever's comfortable. The majority of his wardrobe contains t-shirts and jeans. None of his shirts are a plain color; he likes that they have some sort of graphic or saying. He has a few pairs of sneakers and finds flip-flops uncomfortable. When it gets cold he'll wear boots and a sweat jacket. Though he does have a few nice outfits Chase prefers to save those for special occasions. Save for a couple of ripped pairs of jeans and a worn-out pair of sneakers, Chase keeps himself presentable and clean.

Family
Father - Charles Davenfourth, CEO - The CEO of a pretty big company, Mr. Davenfourth - or Mr. D as he prefers - had always been the main breadwinner in the household. He is one of the CEOs of a rather large company located in NYC which oversees multiple smaller companies. His marriage had never been the most stable, but it was tolerable. After all he had to have a decent enough wife to bring to dinner meetings and such. Some time after welcoming Chase and Carla, the marriage crumbled. Apparently bringing two kids into a questionable relationship wasn't a good idea. Charles and Whitney divorced, splitting custody of the kids. When Mr. D wasn't around he made sure to show them he cared. This was done mostly by buying them whatever they wanted. Some limits were placed; Chase found a way around most of them somehow. When he wasn't working or having the kids around, Charles found his life boring and empty. He began dating again. Some lived with him. A few lasted longer than others. His current girlfriend Sasha is going on four years now. Chase has nothing against the woman...except when she 'encourages' Chase and Carla to spend more time together. Overall Chase considers his relationship with his father strong. Chase looks up to Charles even though he doesn't necessarily see that sometimes Charles can be just as busy as his mother or can focus more on his girlfriends than his kids. What Chase knows he can always count on his dad for is his finances. He just wished that his father didn't insist on paying for college. Or that he and Carla were going to the same one. Who's bright idea was all that, anyway?
Mother - Whitney Prong (formally Davenfourth), Various Positions - Whitney never really held down a full-time job. During her marriage to Charles and when the twins were young she had a part time job at the mall. When all hell broke loose and the two moved into separate homes at the end of their marriage, Whitney looked into other part-time positions. Most of them dealt with retail, as that was where her experience laid. As Chase and Carla grew up, Whitney held down two, occasionally three, part-time jobs to hold down the household so she was hardly around. And unlike Charles, who showered them with gifts whenever he couldn't be there, Whitney could not afford to 'make up' for not always bring there physically. Unfortunately, when the time came for important milestones - graduations, dances, special events - Whitney was only able to make brief appearances before having to go to work. She mainly agreed to 50/50 custody because of Charles' stability and she knew if she couldn't always provide financially he could. Chase knows his mother works hard and while he probably wouldn't openly admit to showing respect for her, he just didn't like being under her roof. There was always too much to do. There he had chores and he actually had to focus on homework. That was why as he got older Chase opted to spend more time with his father at his house. It stung Whitney that her son pretty much chose her ex over her, but she wasn't going to interfere with his happiness. In the long run, Chase knows no matter where he goes or what he does his sister will stick by their mom. They're in good hands with each other.
Sister - Carla Davenfourth, Student - She may be his twin, but she's still technically younger. They argued a lot growing up and in general. They just didn't have the same interests or anything. Or maybe it was because sometimes they had too similar personalities. Nah, that couldn't be it; she was just annoying. Always sitting and reading, thinking logical stuff instead of having fun like normal kids. Chase always thought of her as weird. He grew up referring to her as Bookworm because for some reason she always wanted to be around books instead of people. But as annoying as he considers her and even though they're not as close as some siblings, Chase gives Carla credit for knowing what she wants out of life and working to make it happens. It's not going to stop him from teasing her, of course. But because she has her head in a book a lot and doesn't try to be anywhere near as social as Chase, Chase kind of worries for Carla in the real world. No, he'd never admit to actually being protective of her or anything. But if anyone's going to tease her or give her a hard time, it's going to be Chase and not anyone else.
Backstory
Chase was born at 11:57 p.m. on January 6, thirteen minutes before his sister. He and Carla were raised in suburban New York. Chase was always the more active between them. He walked and talked pretty early. But after that Carla one-upped him on pretty much everything else. While they share a few physical traits and parts of their personalities are very similar, Chase and Carla have always been completely different people. Chase never cared about hard work or learning. He just wanted to have fun. In any way he could. That may be how he got into pulling pranks. Nothing dangerous or life-threatening; mostly harmless stuff like drawing on the wall or blaming a food fight on someone. Hey, those were simple times. But Chase had always been someone who loved to laugh. He liked to share that laughter with people. That combined with the pranks was probably how he came to be a class clown.
Chase was pretty oblivious to his parents' fighting. Ok sure, he knew there were times when they didn't get along. But it seemed pretty normal. Eventually it became bad enough that they got divorced. It didn't scar Chase or cause any problems. He got two rooms out of it; how cool was that? But sometimes having two houses wasn't that cool. His parents did things so differently. When Whitney was out working long hours she encouraged Chase and Carla to get their chores done; do their homework; get into bed on time; follow things called rules. But at Charles' house, Chase had more freedom to do what he wanted; he got a lot of toys and cool stuff from his father; he could lay back and do what he wanted, get away with almost anything. So as he grew it was no surprise he asked to spend more time with Charles. He might have asked to even move in with him full time; but Whitney used the custody excuse or whatever it was. Apparently Chase couldn't decide who to live with full time until he was eighteen. That was a bummer. And the oblivious kid that he'd always been, he didn't know it was a request that actually hurt his mother.
There was really only one downside to spending more time with his father - the girlfriends. Sometimes Chase thought his dad was so cool, winning girls over with his money and charisma. The real problem was when any of them moved in. Some were ok; they didn't bother Chase and when both were around they just did their separate things. Others...others were lame. There was one girlfriend that treated Chase like a five year old; and Chase was pretty sure most thirteen-year-olds aren't five-years-old. There was another one that bought and used way too much makeup. Chase hated to admit it, but Charles' current girlfriend is probably in the top three best. Except for when she 'encourages' Chase and Carla to spend more time together. Chase already had to deal with seeing Carla when they were in the same house and at school all day; did they really need more time together? Lame! Chase wouldn't go so far as to say he could be a player like his father. But he sure did like girls. He started dating when he was twelve or thirteen. He didn't always have to win girls over with money or anything; Chase just liked having a cute girl on his arm when he walked down the hallway. After a couple of 'girlfriends' (or whatever a thirteen-year-old would really consider a girlfriend) Chase didn't so much like the idea of being in a relationship. He just liked flirting with girls. He would never get too far, not with his sister always watching everything. She'd throw some smart-aleck comment at him like, 'what would you do if a guy treated me bad?' As much as Chase hated to admit it, he never liked the idea. Unlike his father who had a...ahem, different way of dating, Chase would make sure to treat the girls he saw with more respect (Chase could thank his bookworm of a sister for that). Although as he got a little older Chase found a loophole or two - like how he wouldn't have to be respectful if he never called the girl back. Sometimes the thrill of just trying to get a number or date was better than actually having the girl.
When Chase wasn't chasing after girls, he was coming up with some pretty unbelievable pranks. A lot of them never happened, unfortunately; too 'out there' for some people to try to pull off. But, again, he never pulled anything dangerous. Silly stuff, mostly. Like sticking post-it notes on windows or peoples' cars. Or doodling bad pictures of teachers on the chalkboard saying stupid stuff. But that time he tried filling his middle school pool with gelatin? Yeah, that was a disaster. Some pranks were just not meant to be successful. Nevertheless, he did get in trouble or sent to the principal's office a number of times for his shenanigans. Another reason he didn't like spending time with his mother? She punished him whenever that happened. Mr. D, on the other hand, looked into it completely differently. Chase had a lot of ideas; and he'd always been an imaginative boy. Maybe there was a way other than jokes to channel that creative energy. Actually do something and be successful like Charles. That was when he heard about Metric. It was a prestigious school, albeit expensive. Well, maybe to some people. Mr. D had always been very well off. He made sure to find a way to get Chase accepted into the university. It annoyed Chase at first; he liked the idea of living on his own but hated that it had to be for school. He had enough of school already and just made it through high school; did he really need more education? On the other hand, he'd have access to his father's money. He'd have a credit card with him at all times. And he could finally get out of spending more 'family' time with his sister. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad after all.
Except for when it was. Apparently Metric was a school Carla had been looking at for some time and was captured by their programs and atmosphere. If Chase could get in because of their dad's money, why couldn't she get in because they had something she actually wanted to pursue in life? Chase tried to put up a fight. It was his school and he and Carla had to share a few things over the years; why did he have to share more education stuff with her? Also, he was tired of her overshadowing him there with her grades all the time. And he didn't have to worry about being compared to her or have anybody asking if they were related or anything like that. But, in the spirit of fairness - possibly also because Mr. D's girlfriend thought it was a fantastic way for the twins to get closer than ever - Carla was able to join Chase. Not only did he have to get settled in a new place that wasn't New York and revamp his goofy reputation, he had to continue dealing with and watching over Carla. Oh yeah, and he had to figure out exactly what his major should be or else he'd be kicked out and going home to a majorly disappointed family, plus still no idea where to go in life. But no pressure, right?
Fortunately Chase has his bro Clint to back him up. They spend a lot of time in their dorm, at the mall or on campus goofing off. Or stalking girls. Mostly Wyatt Prescott, but it's for Clint so Chase can handle it. He thinks Clint can do better, but they're shippable. He wished there was a major for that. But for now he'll stick with seeing where an art major goes. At least it means he can stick around for some hot California dates. Any other time, just look for Chase in his dorm and challenge him to a video game!
Random
シChase drives a Jeep. Don't ask him the model or year; he just knows it costs money and can get him where he needs to go. Or escape.
シHis dad's house is large and spacious, located near Manhassett in New York; his mother lives a few towns over in what looks like a house but is really an apartment with just enough room for three.
シEven though celebrating Hanukkah with his mother would mean more nights for gifts, he prefers Christmas with his dad.
シChase isn't necessarily a spoiled rich kid; probably just a spoiled kid, considering his dad did give him a lot growing up. But he won't always act it.
シChase likes a few 'nerdy' things like comic books, video games and super heroes. Did he mention that doesn't make him a nerd?
シHe passes time in class by doodling in his notebook instead of taking notes.
シHis favorite actress and 'celebrity crush' is Amy Adams, aka the only redhead he'll ever like.
シHe don't dance.
シChase prefers wine shots over regular shots - why put any old beer in a shot glass when he can use his dad's credit card to get some fancy wine? He especially enjoys doing that while watching a bad movie.
シChase actually became an art major because of his doodles. He thought they were just doodles, but one of their early dates Max commented on them. Chase decided to run with it. Not like he had anything else anyway. Whether there was another reason or not, he won't say.
シChase's father has gotten around a bit in the dating pool, but Chase recalls a couple of standouts - the one who treated him like a child, the one with some hairless pet, and his father's current girlfriend Sasha who encourages the twins to spend time together. In the future, prior to the twins' graduation Mr. D will move onto another woman named Brittany and become engaged to her.
シCorbin Bleu was used as a reference for the drawings, particularly the hair. It made sense to include him as a playby.
