Video Recreation time!

Seamus smiled back when Baptiste seemed to invite him in. He took a seat as he was instructed to do, moving the papers off of the chair and gently placing them on the desk, off to the side. He glanced around the office, taking in the way it was all set up until he focused on Baptiste.

”Oh, yeah, I did.” Seamus said, shuffling through his bag to pull his notebook out. Inside of the notebook was the assignment. He pulled it out and put it on the desk. ”I wanted to know if, for the video recreation project, If I could do a scene from a, a movie or something instead of a music video.” he said. He didn’t look at Baptiste just in case he said no and he felt dumb. ”Just because I’d prefer to do that but if I have to do a music video I mean I can do one I just kind of – had an idea.”

Seamus felt his face beginning to flush when Baptise complimented him. It was completely not what he expected. He expected to be laughed at or given a simple answer – not complimented for innovations. He looked at the floor bashfully, fighting a smile so that his teacher wouldn’t think he was thirsty for compliments or something. Seamus knew people like that – and he did not want to be labeled as some teacher’s pet!

”Oh, yeah. Basically, it’s – “ And here was the embarrassing part. Admitting to liking High School Musical wasn’t too hard when he was around Rylan and Shyanne just because they were – well – them. But being alone? It just felt weird. ”Well, my friends are usually the stars of my videos and well – they really like that Disney show, so I was thinking of doing something like that. It’s the – High School Musical. That.”

Seamus looked over at Baptiste with a sheepish smile. ”I haven’t picked a scene yet but... I just wanted to make sure it was okay I could use a scene instead of a music video.”

This didn’t seem to be going as planned. Seamus shifted in his seat when Baptiste suspected that the actors had a hand in the scene picking. Well, it would certainly be wrong to say they had no say at all, but Seamus did enjoy the film he wanted to make a recreation of. For them to step out of their comfort zones – Seamus felt irritated. This wasn’t an assignment for the actors! This was his assignment! If it was too weird or made them uncomfortable they wouldn’t be the subjects of the film! And then he’d be – who would he be able to get to recreate something? Maybe the team, but they wouldn’t really be able to do what he wanted to. They didn’t see him behind the camera, they saw him on the field. He felt as though if they saw him in his art, they’d poke fun at him, and that would make him seem soft and gay.

But despite his irritation Seamus smiled over at Baptiste. ”R—right, I just thought it would be a good subject...” apparently he thought wrong. When he mentioned he had to insert himself Seamus’ brows furrowed. When the hell had that been mentioned?! He was a director! Not a star! He didn’t want to be on camera! He couldn’t stand looking at himself on screen! He scanned the directions and felt a sense of dread. There it was, the fine print. The student directing the film must make a small cameo in the video... what kind of crap was that! Seamus felt his palms growing sweaty and a sense of dread overtake him as he thought about being on film. ”R—right well I – was just going to – I hadn’t gotten that far yet is all but that’s fine,” he said, nodding. He had to just do it. He could do it. he could find something that would work.

When Baptiste cracked a joke he smiled, shaking his head. ”Oh no! it’s fine, it’s just an assignment...” just an assignment that was going to rake him over the coals! He could do this. He just had to – not panic. Yeah. Not panicking was a good start. ”And the length of the, the cameo...” he tried to sound as casual as possible. ”...how long was the minimum, again?”
