Backstory:
Charlotte was born in Paris, France and raised there until she was fourteen years old. She had a moderately difficult childhood. Their family was always poor and her American mother, Carina, was always worrying about money. Her father, Henry, was a singer at a jazz nightclub and squandered away almost all of his pay on booze. Though he was kind to his family, he was beyond help with his alcoholism. Carina tried to get him to stop, but finally realized that her girls would do better away from him. She filed for divorce and soon left to head back to America to finish raising her two daughters in her old hometown of Salem, California.
Coming a family who were well versed in the arts, Charlotte soon became involved with Metric Academy. She attended their high school and graduated with them, invited to attend the collegeate program. Charlotte’s teachers called a meeting with Carina, suggesting that she allow her daughter to join the modeling course at Metric Arts Academy. They sweet talked Carina, telling her that Charlotte was a natural, classic beauty and needed to be shared. It wasn’t until they mentioned the fact that Charlotte could make a good deal of money as a supermodel that Carina agreed.
It wasn’t the first idea of what Charlotte wanted to do with her life once out of high school, but she knew Metric was a good school and easily agreed to the idea of modeling. She enjoyed her time there, though she didn’t seem to hold the same drive to slay all the competition around her… perhaps that was what set her apart from the other girls.
It wasn’t until junior year that things started to change. To have extra cash, Charlotte got a job as a dog bather at a local pet stylist shop. She worked there for a couple months in her free time, finding that she adored working there. One groomer noticed her passion and took Charlotte under her wing and trained her. Charlotte came to love her part-time job more than her modeling classes. Her adviser and mother noticed this and tried to force the girl to work harder. Then one day, for a class project, Charlotte went to a studio to model for an ametuer magazine. The director demanded that she was nude for the shoot, being pushy enough to frighten Charlotte. She refused and left the studio, walking away from modeling completely.
She moved out of Metric Arts Academy and went full time at the pet stylist shop. She lives on her own in an apartment, loves her job, enjoying the perfect mix of social interaction and solitude. She works almost everyday, paying her mother back on her own accord for the schooling she received little by little.
She’s so much happier living her life the way she wants.
Relationships:
Charlotte doesn’t speak to her parents much, besides an occasional uncomfortable phone call. The only family member she keeps in touch with is her sister, Sophie, who though she lives with Carina, Charlotte has managed to build a decent relationship with her.
