Levi's outfit!
It was finally the first day of his drawing classes. As much as he liked teaching painting, he was much better at drawing. He felt like he could more accurately convey the pictures in his head with a trusty HB pencil.
Levi Madison had only been on staff at Metric Arts Academy for a few months, but he was already so in love with the school. The students were all so eager to learn, all had worked hard to get there. It was difficult to not have a smile on his face when he came into the classroom, seeing the students all looking back at him expectantly.
Levi had even more of a bounce in his step as he walked down the hall to his first pencil class of the day. He nodded at passerby students and teachers, even stopping to give one of his students from last quarter a high-five. He felt so right in this school, like he had been born to teach here.
He stepped into his classroom that he taught in solely, seeing a group of students already sitting at the tables.
"Good morning, everyone," Levi said, flashing them all a smile as he moved in and set his keys and lesson plans on the desk. He swiftly went to the whiteboard and wrote out his name and his email address with a dry erase marker and said, "First of all, I'm Professor Madison and you can reach me at this email if you have any questions about our lessons. Don't hesitate asking something, even if it sounds stupid, I'd rather you feel informed rather than half-assing something you don't completely understand."
Everything Levi said had an upbeat tone to it, earning him a soft laugh from a couple of students. He looked around, trying to become familiar with everyone's faces so he could recognize if someone was missing throughout the quarter.
He picked up the attendance sheet and set it down on the first table, saying, "Take this and put your name on it, along with a check mark in the first box to signify that you were here today. I've got a pretty good memory, so don't think you can check your buddy's box when he isn't here and just felt like sleeping in today."
The student that sat closest to him snickered slightly at his words and Levi smirked at the class before going to lean casually against his own desk.
"Juliette Aristides says, 'How you draw is a reflection of how you feel about the world. You're not capturing it, you're interpreting it.'" Levi started off his class with the quote, "Now, I know there may be a good handful of you guys in here that are just doing this as an elective, or just to get those credits for a studio art course. You may be nervous about not being a 'drawing' artist. I just want to assure everyone in here, that there's no right or wrong answer with the pieces you draw. All I want to see is effort, and with that effort, it's quite possible you may become a better drawing artist. I will offer suggestions on how to improve as much as I can, but not if I don't see the effort. If I see lack of trying, you will fail. I don't want to see you guys fail though, so as long as we can all work together, I think this will be a fun class!"
Levi picked up a box from next to his desk and set it on the nearest table, "Take an apple from this box and then pass it along. We're going to hop right into things and work on a simple apple sketch first."
