Though he didn't necessarily mind subbing for the main librarians when needed, Elliott was itching to finish up his most recent creative writing project for Willis Dillis. He'd been on a roll when he got the call to come in early, since one of the women had to leave due to a family emergency - and now he was standing at the help desk, staring out toward the quiet stacks. His imagination just wasn't letting up, the story unfolding in his mind and superimposing over the large room of research tools.
His fingers drummed upon the surface of the counter as he tried to deny the urge to let it all out, glancing down to his open-faced journal then over to the other librarian who was getting ready for her lunch break. As much as he didn't like to ignore his duties or responsibilities, he just had to write all this out - besides, nothing else was going on! A few people were studying and using the library's computers, but none of them looked like they needed help or even wanted to be disturbed period.
So the very second the librarian went out the double doors, Elliott poured his thoughts on to the half-empty page. Last sentence he'd scribbled down, the mighty oak warrior had uprooted himself to defend the forest from - from... sinister sludge monsters - yes! Toxic sludge monsters who stifled and killed all the innocent flowers and plants in their path - the creation of, of... of what - of who? Elliott racked his brain, his attention zoned in on his writing, not noticing the world going on around him at all.
