||Appearance & Personality||
Appearance: Brock was blonde as a kid, but his hair has gradually darkened to a sort of dirty-blonde/brown. His tall, pale frame of 6’ exactly has broad shoulders and he looks like he was built for sports. Brock is a very strong guy and can easily bench press twice his weight, a fact he is rather quite proud of.
His clothing style sometimes seems a bit out-dated. But the fact is he dresses for comfort and doesn’t give a shit. Besides, he’s had all of his clothes for years now (except for when he has to replace them).
Personality: Brock was always the more sensible member of his parents’ children. Growing up as the eldest he was faced with responsibilities that helped keep him in check. Family always comes first to him, even if he may groan about it. He is a generally sweet and loving person with a heart of gold. He is also very confident in himself so it is nigh-on impossible to insult him and get a rise from him. He usually uses humor as a defense and loves to joke around with people.
Likes (5+):
-Playing Soccer and Football (It keeps him in shape and is an outlet for his frustations)
-Mimicking people (he likes to do it as a comeback more often than not, usually to annoy them)
-Taking care of his sister (she is honestly his favorite thing in the world, he can’t imagine life without her)
-Eating obscene amounts of food (there was never a lot of food growing up so he eats tons of it at Metric)
-His motorcycle that he fixed up (He found it in a junkyard and worked on it for five years until it was drivable)
Dislikes (5+):
-When people try to insult him (their insults are so petty it is pathetic)
-Having to go home to help out with his brothers (he was never a fan of his brothers.. Except the youngest one)
-When his clothes are no longer wearable (he has learned to appreciate what he has and every single article is his ‘favorite piece of clothing’)
-Watching his mom do things alone (with his father working all the time Brock helped her out but now..)
-Spicy food (it literally churns his stomach and he throws up, no matter what)
||Family & Backstory||
Family members:
-Bert Quaid-- Father, a custodian at Brock’s old high school (a hard worker that is rarely home because he works nights)
-Tawny Quaid-- Mother, an elementary school teacher (nearly single-handedly runs the family, but has always been overwhelmed)
-Channing Quaid-- Younger Brother (age 18), currently getting his GED (knocked up his high school girlfriend and works at a diner)
-Neil Quaid-- Younger Brother (age 14), freshman in high school (a troublemaker, comes home in the back of a cruiser often)
-Zachary Quaid-- Younger Brother (age 13), in middle school (just as much of a troublemaker as Neil, but doesn’t get caught)
-Taylor Quaid--Youngest Brother (age 7), in elementary school (a whiz kid, already in sixth grade and has excellent grades)
-Elise Quaid-- Sister (age 3), in daycare (Brock has pretty much raised her at this point)
Backstory: Brock grew up as the eldest of the Quaid children. Naturally, some responsibiliteis fell onto his shoulders. He had to become the man of the house and look after his younger siblings, often being another parental figure. In some cases he would even have to mimic one of his parents over the phone then relay the information to his mom and dad when they got home. He did well in school, getting straight A’s and was even the quarterback for the school’s football team as well as the goalie for the soccer team.
Everyone wanted him in high school and Brock went through several romantic relationships. The problem was, his younger siblings started acting out and for him, family always comes first. Those he dated never understood this and often said harsh, nasty, unrepeatable things before walking out of his life. These experiences led Brock to declaring himself ‘autosexual’ and the problems seemed to stop.
Then, when he was finishing up his senior year of high school, his brother Channing screwed up. Big time. The then 15 year old had knocked up his girlfriend of 17 and dropped out of high school, going to live with her and raise the kid together. More pressure fell onto Brock to be successful in life and round up the rest of his siblings.
His excellent grades and knack for Voice Mimicry landed him a full-ride scholarship to Metric Arts Academy, which he eagerly took. His grades were high, and he made many friends. But trouble ensued back home. With the ‘irish twins’ acting out and little Taylor whizzing through school like a bullet, Brock’s parents were overwhelmed at the arrival of yet another child, Elise. They were afraid they just couldn’t take care of her.
Brock felt for his family and withdrew from Metric Arts, losing his full-ride scholarship. Taking night job so he could take care of his sister during the day, Brock resumed his role of man of the house. He did his best to reel in his siblings all the while making sure he was raising enough money and finding scholarships so that he could return to college.
Then Channing moved back in with the family, taking his girlfriend and daughter with him. He offered to take over Brock’s ‘job’ since he wanted to become more mature. Brick was hesitant but he had raised enough funds to go back to Metric so all that was left to do was apply. Elise was upset at the thought of her ‘daddy’ leaving the house, though.
He got back in and this fall he has returned, feeling strange to be back. Brock keeps in close contact with his family and told them if he has to return home for any reason, he would. So far they have yet to send for him, so perhaps things are looking better than before..
||Social Aspects||
Social Life: Brock gets along with everyone for the most part, though he is having to make new friends at Metric because those he knew when he first attended have already graduated by now or are about to graduate. He finds it odd being one of the older of the college freshmen, and is sometimes creeped out when he overhears classmates talking about him in a romantic/sexual way.
Notable Possessions: His motorcycle, a 1970 Bonneville Triumph. This thing is his pride and joy and he never wants to part with it because of all the work he put into it.
Important relationships:
Elise Quaid, little sister. Elise was born only a few years ago and came at a really terrible time for the Quaid family. With one kid a teen dad and two of the others off causing trouble, there were too many kids to look after. So Brock withdrew from college--losing his scholarship-- in order to take care of the new baby. He loves her to death and she even calls him “Daddy” when others are not around. SHe is his world and all he wants to do is protect her.
Jared Symons, a sort of friend. Brock met Jared in the fall semester of his Freshman ear at Metric. They were put into housing together and at first Brock wasn't quite sure about this dancer guy. But as time wore on throughout the semester, Jared kind of grew on him. Sure, their friendship might seem a bit odd but then again, what friendship isn't odd in at least some way? Most often Jared uses Brock's voice mimicry talent to get rid of clingy girls--something Brock honestly doesn't mind-- but honestly Brock might be the only person that can even handle a friendship with Jared because Brock can easily brush off any harsh comments from Jared that would end most friendships.
||OOC Info||
- Despite his name, Brock does not like Pokemon. However he can mimic some of the characters and, ironically, his Brock impression is one of his best.
- Brock's favorite color is orange, hence the font color!
- He works part-time at the Salem Fro-yo shop. It isn't hte best job, but it is tolerable.
- While he will be joining the football team here at Metric, I dunno what his position will be. Possibly linebacker or runningback. He is an excellent kicker though..
- For those of you who do not know, autosexual means he is sexually attracted to/finds sexual pleasure from himself. This does not mean he doesn't find others attractive though. He just hasn't had a lot of luck in romance so he figures best to stick with the one person that always has his back--himself.
