He hadn't seen Bucky's company until he got within five feet of the table. The smile on his face fades along with his words, an uncomfortable, sickening feeling hitting his stomach like a rock. The lights were starting to normalize, closing duties beginning and Daniel was certain his face was a bit green. The way this stranger was.. touching Bucky. Daniel didn't know how to handle something like this, he'd never been in a situation like this before.
His eyes widened at the sudden violence that occurred--from Bucky-- and he audibly gulped, glancing over as the bouncer that had just walked through the door was alerted by the screaming. No.. No this was all wrong. Daniel had to do soemthing to make sure Bucky was not held accountable. Daniel wanted to see this guy again and if Bucky was banned from the club, it would put a bit of a strain on it all.. Well, he thought it would, anyways.
His jaw dropped when the man and Bucky were suddenly on the floor. Daniel had to do something before the Bouncer made it over, but what? As if by instinct, Daniel surged forth, gently taking hold of his forearm and elbow. It was just enough to hesitate the wound up punch, and a moment later the bouncer was there, pulling the --now screaming-- man out from under Bucky.
"Bucky.." Daniel spoke softly, unsure of what to say. The darkness in his newfound friend's eyes frightened him-- a sense he had never gotten from a living being. "James.. It's alright.."
He kept his hand on Bucky's elbow as best he could, kneeling beside the man. Oh dear heavens, what did he do? Daniel had to search his mind to how Delaney had gotten him to snap out of that awful possession that had taken over him. Hesitantly, his hand shaking, Daniel placed is palm on Bucky's cheek, turning the man's face to look at Daniel.
"Look at me. You are fine, everything's going to be okay.." He swallowed the lump in his throat, looking up at the bouncer--whom was interviewing the couple-- before returning his gaze to Bucky's eyes. He ran his fingers through the hair on the side of Bucky's head, trying to control his tremors.
