Once Amy got all settled into her dormitory, she thought of things to do. Now that the group of four were all back on campus – herself, Max, Todd, and Ace of course – they had to do something. They had to prep for the school year to come by going shopping!
Of course, Amy had shopped prior to coming out to California with her dad. Isaac was enthusiastic to shop with his daughter. She talked all about the school year – about friends and enemies, ships and bromances, breakups and gossip – and by the time Amy was heading back to campus her father knew all of the best drama Metric had to offer. And while she loved spending time with her father by the time summer was ending he kept asking about Mason. If they were still talking, how he was doing, all of that. And Amy just didn’t want to think about him. So she dismissed his concerns airily and eventually made her way back to campus.
Getting settled was fun! Immediately she saw Max and hugged her best friend for almost five minutes, saying how much she missed her and was excited to spend another year rooming together. She and Isaac moved everything into the dorm and by the time everything was settled, and a few days had passed, Amy extended an idea to Max: they would play dress up with their boys!
Amy had noticed that Ace, especially, was lacking in wardrobe! And this was unacceptable. Todd only was fashionable because of what he did for a living! Had he a say he probably wouldn’t be, either! Amy sent a group message to their chat that they would spend this Saturday before classes began at the mall. No objections and if anyone (namely Chase trying to hog Max) objected Amy would deal with them herself! This was B.F.F. BONDING TIME!
Amy stood outside of the mall, finishing up a phone call with one of her friends who had just moved in. She did not say she was at the mall, because she didn’t want anyone to invite themselves as her friends often had a habit of doing.
Amy felt the wind go by and brush through her hair. She looked up from her phone and froze – thinking she saw Mason across the street. Her lips formed a line and her friend continued jabbering on their end, like nothing was wrong. Amy blinked and realized the guy she was looking at wasn’t him. She shook her head. No thinking about him! It was high time Amy hit the dating pool again, she thought, and what would a new fling hurt? Maybe she’d even go for a girl this time.
Amy heard footsteps approaching and glanced up to see Todd running towards her. She smiled and waved. He looked nice – in a three colored 3/4th sleeved shirt – and he had his hair all styled up! Todd came to a stop beside Amy and smiled over.
”The bus – was kind of – late.” He said.
”Where’s Ace? I know Max had something to do before coming here but he didn’t come with you?” Amy asked. Todd straightened up to his full – monstrous – height and shrugged, looking around the parking lot.
”I knocked on his door, but he might have been sleeping... I don’t know...” Todd shrunk away from Amy’s angry face as she processed that Ace might be sleeping! He better not be! Amy told her friend she had to go, hung up, then found Ace’s number and dialed it. She waited for it to ring and Todd looked uncomfortable – like he wished he hadn’t said his friend might have been sleeping.
”I’m sure he’s on his way, you uh, you told us about this trip a week ago...” Todd assured. Amy nodded.
”I did! But he was the only one reluctant to come... It’s not the same without Ace!” She said. Todd had to agree – Ace was the only other quiet one in their group. He hoped Ace did show up – he really didn’t want to be the only one at Amy and Max’s mercy today.
