Talon's Outfit
The new year was just beginning and already it didn't feel much different from the last. Talon was still the quiet girl, she still put all her focus into her schoolwork and she still didn't make any friends. Sure, she interacted with some people but it just felt so sparse. Tay was really hoping that this year would be different. She was a sophomore now; not even a sophomore in their first year at Metric. Just a regular sophomore. And she still felt like the new girl. A lot of times Tay just grinned and bore it. She was never a year ahead to make friends nor was she the most outgoing social person ever. She just...didn't seem to have the same interests as a lot of the other students.
She wished she could say she had her family, but Talon felt weird even saying that. Sure she babysat her sister and nephew still. That wasn't going to change any time soon. And it wasn't like they were even far. Her brother, on the other hand...well, he didn't change much. He just...Tay couldn't exactly put her finger on it. But she's heard mixed things about Shyanne. People either loved her or hated her. But she was the most popular girl in school and she took a shine to Rylan. Of course Talon was happy her brother found people who actually liked hanging around with him and didn't bully him or put him down. Still, they always seemed to take his time away from her. Rylan and Talon didn't babysit together anymore. They didn't hang out or grab a meal. They lived less than five minutes away from each other now and they couldn't see each other because he was so busy answering Shyanne's beck and call. It just...it wasn't what Talon pictured when she started at Metric. When Rylan even said she'd be perfect for Metric.
Maybe this first major assignment of the year would be a nice change. Maybe Talon would actually make a friend out of it. The music students had each been paired with a dance student. The pairs would have to agree on a song, rearrange the song to make it theirs and create choreography. It was simple enough, but it was also the kind of assignment that would show the kind of creativity the students had and how well they worked together. It was a major thing in the fields, after all. Tay didn't know much about her partner, only his name. Sure, she heard some things around campus about Daemon. He got around or was gay or whatever the rumors were. After all they were just rumors right? So it didn't necessarily mean they were true. And even if they were, Talon personally didn't care about those. What Daemon - or anyone else did, really - outside of school was their business. And unlike most of her family, she wasn't going to judge because someone might lean in another direction. Or even if they made 'questionable' decisions, to use her father's words. All Talon cared about was that he was friendly, that they would work well together and that they got a great grade. Oh she really hoped they got along well! Talon really didn't want to make any enemies at this school!
Talon started to brain storm as she made her way towards the music building. All the pairs were given a room to meet up in and a time slot. Theirs wasn't for another fifteen minutes but Talon liked to be early. She said a small prayer to herself, partially that was her being the good Christian that she was and partially because it was going to be new territory for her. Fiddling with her necklace as she mumbled to herself, Tay didn't see where she was going and ended up bumping into someone. Their books fell to the ground, completely snapping Talon out of it. She covered her mouth briefly before realizing she had to help gather all the supplies. "Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry!" she gasped, bending down to help grab everything. "It was definitely my fault. I was just on my way to a music room and I was so busy thinking about a group project and not even looking where I was going...." Not that anyone would have needed to know where her mind was or where she was going; she just felt as though it would help her explain herself and show she really didn't mean any harm. Tay didn't even take a second to look up and realize that this was the person she was going to be working with.
