”That’s a good setup you have there, then! I’m glad you could come – Arthur has a tendency to look like a grumpy lost puppy when he’s forced to come to events alone.” She grinned lightly and leaned into Peter’s arms.
At Chardonnay’s look Erin glanced over at Peter, who by now was innocently looking at Chardonnay’s face. Though she was oblivious to the desire in his gaze. He saw the darker glint in her eyes and that should have signaled to him to stop, but instead it interested him. Peter followed her gaze.
”Looking for someone?” he seized the chance to lean a little bit closer – something that might not have seen perverse had he not just eyed her up like a piece of meat before. He got a good smell of her perfume, and didn’t retract his lean for an uncomfortable amount of time.
”Probably Arthur – he’s heading over.” She spotted Arthur, and waved in his direction. Arthur approached, noted his seat was now occupied, and glanced at Chardonnay. But the first thing he noticed was how close Peter was to her. He cleared his throat and purposefully got between them to place the water down beside Chardonnay’s plate. Arthur glanced over at Peter, who had backed back up to be beside Erin but who hadn’t really looked fully at Arthur the full time.
”Hey.” Arthur said, glaring at Peter and blocking his line of vision. God, he hated this guy... he really did. ”Your wife looks beautiful, doesn’t she?” He sounded a little too angry – angrier than he usually let Peter get him. Erin seemed to take it as a compliment and said her thanks, brushing some hair away from her face.
